It’s “Fettunta” time at Casa Montrogoli! Olive harvest season has started here in Tuscany, and to celebrate the first new olive oil we love to make “fettuntas” ( “Fetta” = Slice, “Unta” = oily, greasy). Fettunta is simply grilled bread, rubbed with a garlic clove, drizzled with new olive oil, and then sprinkled with coarse sea salt. Olive oil, when it’s just pressed, it’ has a light green colour and a particular spicy and peppery taste. We love “olio nuovo”, what about you? Have you ever tried it?
