It’s vendemmia time! Today we’ve prepared for our guests the traditional “schiacchiata con l’uva” ( = grape focaccia) , a traditional sweet that celebrates the Tuscan grape harvest. “Schiacciata” comes from the Italian verb “schiacciare”, meaning literally ‘to flatten’ and is the term affectionately used for focaccia in Tuscany. “Schiacciata con l’uva” is a bread-makers celebration of the fall wine grape harvest, and it’s prepared with flour, olive oil, “canaiolo” grapes, rosemary and sugar. Buon appetito!
